Nightcliff Primary School is located in the suburb of Nightcliff about 10 kilometres from the centre of the city and two blocks back from the beach. The school is a modern primary school catering for students from Preschool to Year six. The school has: approximately 520 students currently enrolled, 19 classroom teachers from Transition to Year Six, 12 support staff and a double unit preschool which provides morning or afternoon sessions for students. We also have an annex for Nemarluk School, who provide services for children who require specialised and individualised educational programs.
The Australian Curriculum is used as the basis of all our teaching and learning programs for English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts and Health and Physical Education.
We enjoy a busy calendar throughout the school year of intra and extra-curricular activities. Parents/caregivers are welcome in our classrooms, assemblies, three-way conversations and are invited to see their child’s class teacher or the Principal about any matters of concern. We send weekly newsletters home (by print or by email) to all parents/caregivers which include a message from the Principal, news, events and information.
Nightcliff Primary School Council is made up of parents, teachers and community members who are elected to the council. The council meets on the third Tuesday of each month. The council has an active and wide ranging involvement in decisions for the school, including policy, contracts, infrastructure contracts, the canteen and fundraising. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.
As the Principal of Nightcliff Primary School, on behalf of our staff and community I am delighted to welcome you to the Nightcliff School community. At Nightcliff Primary we take great pride in our outstanding, research-based curriculum and instruction offered to our youngest learners from four year old Pre-School through to Year 6.
We offer a strong complement of specialist learning areas that enhance the regular education experience for our students including: Science, Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, Indonesian, and Library and student support.
SUCCESS, ONE CHILD AT A TIME
The effort to meet each child’s needs for growth socially, emotionally and academically – is ongoing and intentional. We use standardised assessments to gather data on the academic growth of our students and use that data to develop appropriate classroom and individualised instruction.
Regular review and revision of the curriculum help us to ensure that we are delivering the best possible learning experience for our students. We integrate a school-wide Values Education program into the curriculum and use the Values Education traits as key concepts during learning opportunities for social-emotional growth. Our teachers “know” their students, identifying strengths, challenges and passions while striving for a positive school experience and love of learning.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column]
ADVANCED, EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT OFFERINGS
Reading support, Mathematics support, Special Education services and English Second Language services afford students the opportunity to grow rapidly through strong support and enrichment.
We acknowledge the importance of parental involvement in the success of the school and we enjoy a strong relationship with our School Council and community volunteers. It is our pleasure to serve the community and our most valuable assets, our students.
